The former FLUXX Nightclub at 500 Fourth Avenue in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter has been rebranded as The Quin, a private event venue that combines nightclub production capabilities with customized event services.

The venue has completed renovations and is planning a grand opening celebration for mid-November. Owner Chad Cline told What Now San Diego that The Quin will not operate during regular public hours. Instead, the business will host private events and work with clients to develop their celebrations and parties.

The change follows the purchase of the property by Cline and his cousin, Jason “Rocky” Nichols, which What Now San Diego first reported in January. At the time, the owners had not announced a concept for the nightclub, which had been closed since 2021.

The Quin now gives the Gaslamp address a new identity while retaining a connection to its nightlife history. The approximately 11,000-square-foot venue has a single-floor layout that can accommodate up to 910 guests, depending on the event configuration.

According to Cline, the renovation focused on updating the existing space rather than changing its layout. The team installed two 30-foot screens and upgraded the lighting and sound, including a Funktion-One system that he described as potentially “the best system in San Diego.”

He said the existing layout was already well suited to creating an immersive experience where guests feel connected. “The sound and lighting element is quite immersive,” Cline told What Now San Diego.

The venue also includes three full-service bars and an on-site kitchen. Its production capabilities are intended to support everything from corporate gatherings and weddings to large-scale parties and live entertainment. Food and beverage offerings will also be tailored to each booking.

Cline said chef Drew Bent has joined the team and will create menus for individual groups. Cocktail options have been developed using experience from the owners’ other locations.

“But ultimately we will bring anyone’s party to life,” Cline said, describing the venue’s approach to working with clients on their events.
