Isabel’s Cantina in Pacific Beach will reopen next month, and the transformation will be extreme. Chef Steve Brown and his team will take over the space to open their flagship restaurant Swagyu Chop Shop Restaurant and Bar this June in the former cantina.

Brown is also expanding to Hawaii, and his food truck, The Swagyu Truck, is hitting the streets of San Diego and Orange County this Sunday, May 9th, just in time for Mother’s Day.

According to a post on the Swagyu Burger’s Instagram page on April 29th, Swaygu Truck passed its health inspection and is ready to roll through the streets. Brown posted, “we will be in our [Poway] shop’s parking lot on Mother’s Day…The entire shop will be 10% off as well, and the Truck will be slanging those Swagyu Smash Burgers.” Poway is home to a branch of Brown’s butcher shop Swagyu Chop Shop.

But back to Pacific Beach.

Brown’s restaurant and bar will be located at 966 Felspar St., in San Diego and will be home to bar, eatery, and the butcher shop. According to Swagyu’s website, the butcher shop features “the best Wagyu in the world from USA, AUS, and Japan.” Brown serves up his ‘Signature Swagyu Smash Burger’ with fresh ground ‘Swagyu patties’ on a brioche bun with pickles made in-house, American cheese, and the ‘Swagyu secret sauce.’

Sounds like something you won’t want to miss. Look for opening day in June, and in the meantime, Brown posted some advice on how to flag down his new food truck: “If you would like to have the truck pull up to your Home, Apartment building, office, business, brewery, or really anywhere shoot us an email!”
