The corner of Spring Street and Rutledge Avenue will be seeing a new resident restaurant. Allora will be opening on 114 Spring Street in fall 2023.
What Now Charleston received comment via email from Kelleanne Jones, Designer and Co-owner of Allora on Thursday about the new Free Reign Restaurants restaurant.
Kelleanne shared Allora is “designed [for the patrons] to take a journey through the winding streets of Italy’s Amalfi Coast.” This sister restaurant to Southbound, Community Table, and Bar Pizza will be a four part space featuring the main dining room, Bar Allora, Rooftop Allora and a Coffee and Gelato window.
The main restaurant space will have an earthy color palette, with distressed brick and plastered wall will be a key part of the environment, Jones expressed. There will be classic light fixtures and rich textiles to create an old world, yet modern feel.
Chef and co-owner Ryan Jones, as well as culinary director, Italo Marino were unavailable for comment on the food to be offered at Allora. Kelleanne was able to share that the menu will offer Coastal Italian cuisine with a modern twist. Antipasti, crudi, primi, secondi and dolci will all be sections on the menu showcasing unique to Allora dishes.
Bar Allora is in a separate room next door to the main restaurant. There will be about 14 bar seats and 16 hi-top tables according to Kelleanne. The bar will feature a cocktail list with Italian influenced drinks, a variety of local beers, a full bar as well as a selection of Italian wines.
“With Charleston being such a food and beverage city on the water, people are always looking for a rooftop to eat, drink and mingle,” the designer and co-owner told What Now Charleston. The 532 square foot Rooftop Allora is hoped to be a go to spot in downtown Charleston. The plan for the rooftop is to have eight bar seats with lounge seating on one landing and hi-top tables on the other.
Lastly, there will be a walk-up window for classic Italian treats and beverages on Spring Street. The coffee and gelato stop will offer gelato, espresso, cannoli, affogato and cappuccinos. Along with the walk-up window the room will be connected through an expo window to the restaurant for patrons to order coffee or desserts.
