“Proud to present the best of Nashville hot chicken in California,” Jay Bird’s Chicken is a Long Beach original and an offshoot of the restaurant group Wild Thyme. The fried chicken joint has been expanding in SoCal for the last couple of years; What Now Los Angeles covered Jay Bird’s recent expansion to Sherman Oaks.

Now it looks like Jay Bird’s will be landing much closer to San Diego. The corporation was recently approved for a permit filed at 1935 Calle Barcelona, Suite 172 in Carlsbad.

This means Jay Bird’s six levels of heat and all natural, hormone-free chicken will be available in your backyard. At Jay Bird’s you can order anything from a sandwich, to waffles, as long as it comes with fried chicken. They also serve up an array of sides like ‘spicy crinkle-cut fries,’ ‘loaded potato salad,’ and mac n’ cheese.

If you’re a ‘Plain Jay’ or ‘Fire,’ Jay Bird’s will have something for you.
