Green Grill, a mostly vegan restaurant, has filed for permits for a new location in Sacramento at 1020 16th Street. The space was last occupied by Dallas-based sandwich chain Which Wich and has remained vacant since its closure in 2019.
The vegetarian and mostly vegan restaurant brand started under the name of Baagan Plant Foods Inc. at 21001 San Ramon Valley Blvd. in San Ramon, CA. The flagship location has permanently closed, but the co-founder, Rajbir Randhawa, is dedicated to carrying the brand forward under the new name, Green Grill Restaurant.
Randhawa came from a software and IT background and became involved with plant-based foods when she developed chronic ailments such as arthritis and facial paralysis after a distressful family tragedy. After seeing how her body reacted positively to her dietary choices, Randhawa decided to create healthy recipes to help others. Her brands, whether Baagan or Green Grill, focus on serving “mostly plant-based, mostly gluten-free, and organic food to provide maximum benefits to consumers.”
Green Grill’s menu will feature vegan burgers, tacos, salad bowls, hot and cold lattes, teas, and lemonades. The restaurant currently has another location at 3191 Zinfandel Drive in Rancho Cordova. The new Sacramento location is currently applying for building permits to remodel the existing space to suit the new restaurant’s operational needs. The restaurant is anticipated to open right at the beginning of 2024.
