An exciting new ramen restaurant is making its way to Nolita later this year. Zutto Ramen, the popular Japanese-American eatery and pub, will be expanding to a second location at 384 Broome Street.

The original Zutto has been through quite a few changes in its lifetime. Originally known as Zutto Japanese Restaurant, the store received a facelift in 2011 and changed its name to Zutto Japanese American Pub, reflecting the love and respect the restaurant caries for Japanese and American cultures and their respective cuisines.

Zutto was originally founded by owner German Metz at 77 Hudson Street, on the corner of Harrison Street. Zutto quickly became one of Tribeca’s go-to spots for all things Japanese, earning particular acclaim for their signature ramen. Their most popular ramens include a Spicy Tonkotsu with pork jowl, kikurage, shitake, scallions, and black garlic oil; as well as the seafood shoyu with shrimp, clams, scallops, nori, and lobster oil. In addition to their ramen, Zutto also serves popular steam buns alongside a full selection of domestic and imported draft beers.

Zutto’s new location, 384 Broome Street, was previously home to Sal’s Little Italy. Sal’s was a popular, family-owned Italian restaurant and pizzeria that served the neighborhood since 1977. Famous for their calzones, locals were devastated to see the restaurant close its doors for good last year. Thankfully for fans of Sal’s, owners Francesco and Vincenzo Triolo have since moved to Brooklyn and opened a brand new restaurant called Buonasera at 6522 11th Avenue in early 2021.

While you wait for the new Zutto to open on Broome, the original one remains operational so be sure to give them a visit. No word has been given yet as to when the new store is expected to open, but they’re expecting to remain a staple in the neighborhood, having signed a 10-year lease to secure the space.
