New Orleans pastry chef Carolyn Sterling has a lot of feathers in her baker’s cap, but she’s only just getting started with her business, The Answer is Always CAKE.
Sterling has appeared in baking shows on both the Food Network and Netflix. She’s also a certified cake judge and won several major cake competitions with her sculpted cakes. Despite those accolades, Sterling has only just started getting her own business going and she recently filed an occupational business license with the City of New Orleans for her cottage industry bakery at 1715 France St. in the Upper Ninth Ward. She said people should expect The Answer is Always CAKE to have a higher profile in the coming months.
“I want to start doing even more custom work and start doing more large festivals and other events around the city,” Sterling said. She added that she’s looking into getting a wholesale operation up and running. But for now, people can order custom cakes through The Answer is Always CAKE website and they can peruse the official Instagram page to look at examples of past work.
