The Filipino shop Halo Halo Cafe are getting ready to expand with a third location in the works in Chula Vista. According to the new permits filed with the city, the new location is expected at 1392 E Palomar Street in Otay Ranch.

Owners Cherry and Lee Reyes have been in the restaurant business for years, previously operating the tea cafe Lollicup in Chula Vista. They took over Halo Halo from the owners of Conching’s, the long-running National City Filipino restaurant.

They have since expanded Halo Halo Cafe from their original location in Eastlake, with a shop in Poway, and will now open their third shop in Heritage Town Center, across from Heritage Park.

Their menu includes a mix of Ice Cream, Desserts and Filipino Food. They specialize in Halo-Halo, which translates to “mix-mix,” a colorful dessert with mixed fruits, milk, and shaved ice. Their namesake layered desserts can be topped with bright Ube ice cream and toppings galore. Beyond the sweet treats they also serve authentic Filipino Food such as Pancit Palabok, Lumpia, Chicken Adobo, Bistek, Sisig, and Pancit Guisado.

What Now San Diego briefly spoke with Owner Cherry Reyes to confirm work on the third location. No word just yet on when we can expect the Palomar cafe to open. Keep updated through their Facebook for more about your favorite dessert items.
