Known for offering healthier food compared to other fast-casual chains, Cava is a rapidly growing restaurant chain specializing in Mediterranean-style food, and a new location is being planned for Uptown. According to a renovation permit filed with the city, the new Cava location will be at 5001 Freret St. It would be the first Cava location (not that Cava) to open in the City of New Orleans. There are currently locations in Metairie and Hanrahan.

According to a recent report from Yelp, Cava is currently the fastest-growing brand in the US, including both retail and restaurant brands. The online review platform based its ranking on data for new openings, Yelp searches and other metrics. Cava was established in 2010 and it has become popular for its build-your-own salads, grain bowls and pita wraps featuring traditional Mediterranean ingredients.
