Two months after the beloved Drip Espresso’s closure, a new cafe is in the works to take over the space on 24th Street. A new fictitious business name registration for “Balance Coffee Shop” has been filed under the address of 1004 24th St. Owner of the new cafe, Nancy Guzman posted on her social media earlier this month announcing the upcoming coffee shop, revealing its logo and an opening soon message.

Balance Coffee Shop is the brick-and-mortar rendition of Guzman’s plant-based beverage business, Balance Me Out, which has been operating as a mobile coffee house in food truck format. A previous California State Fair gold award winner, Guzman sources her beans from Sacramento-based Chocolate Fish Coffee Roasters and gives a portion of her profits back to the community.

“I’m excited to bring award winning drinks to midtown such as the Kings Lemonade with sweet and tart organic lemonade, French lavender, and butterfly herbal tea- it took the Gold Ribbon at this year’s Ca State Fair, and the Golden Bear which is a turmeric latte with house made chai that took Gold last year, the coffee cocktail Bee Peachy that took an award at the Midtown Farmers Market and many more unique drinks,” Guzman told What Now Sacramento in an email.

The cafe’s popular menu features a wide variety of classic coffee and espresso drinks, plant-based lattes with chia seeds, coffee lemonades, and mocktails, using less sugar to highlight robust, natural flavors of the beans and other ingredients.

“Created for people who want to stay fueled, Balance Me Out will handcraft you a fresh cup of coffee with locally roasted beans that encompass semi sweet dark chocolate, notes of caramel, orange acidity, and a lush creamy mouthfeel,” says the business’s website.

The mobile cafe has served multiple events in Sacramento, and pops up at Elk Grove City Hall every Wednesday. Those interested in the coffee shop’s latest update can follow the business on Instagram.
