A new café is brewing in Mount Pleasant.

Isle of Palms resident Kathryn Ives is introducing Just Love Coffee Café to the Lowcountry through a multi-unit franchise deal. The first location will debut at 1090 US-17, next to the newly opened Trader Joe’s in the Sweetgrass Corner shopping center.

Ives told What Now Charleston that she’s been searching for a business that would allow her to give back to the community in a meaningful way. When she stumbled upon Just Love, she knew it was the perfect fit.

Although the first Just Love Coffee Café opened in 2011 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the brand’s origins date back to 2009 in Ethiopia. After traveling to the country to adopt their children, founders Rob and Emily Webb were moved by the financial challenges many adoptive families faced.

Rob combined his passion for hand-roasted coffee with a desire to support others in the adoption process, creating a business that blends coffee with a cause. Today, the company remains dedicated to fundraising and charitable events.

“Our mission is to provide a warm and welcoming environment to eat, drink, and love,” said Ives. She intends to carry on the company’s philanthropic vision by providing a space for local nonprofits to hold evening meetings and events.

In addition to hand-roasted, single-origin coffees, the café will offer breakfast classics and light bites. Many menu items, such as their signature “womelette,” are uniquely prepared using a Belgian waffle maker. Guests will also find options like breakfast tacos, avocado toast, cinnamon rolls, and grilled cheese at the new Mount Pleasant location.

Just Love Coffee Café is currently in the permitting phase, with construction expected to begin in early November. While the official opening date is still pending, Ives hopes to welcome guests by late January 2025.
