Two Myrtle Beach-area restaurant owners are joining forces to bring a fresh concept to Murrells Inlet.

Zach Baker, owner of Neal and Pam’s, is partnering with Salvador Ibarra of El Cerro Grande to open Sloppy Jose’s Cantina & Seafood Grill. The restaurant will take over the former Neptune’s Bistro & Raw Bar location at 4139 U.S. 17 Business, nestled along the picturesque Marsh Walk.

The menu at Sloppy Jose’s will blend Mexican, Caribbean, and Latin flavors with a focus on fresh seafood. Highlights will include ceviche, Mexican dishes, steaks, and an assortment of small plates.

“We will be customer service, family and community driven, offer great food and creative drinks at reasonable prices with unique entertainment,” Neal and Pam’s shared in a social media post announcing the project.

The space will retain its existing pirate ship playground, a fun feature for families, and will also house Little Burros Churros, a new spot for sweet treats.

Founded in 1985, Neal and Pam’s has long been a staple in the area, while El Cerro Grande has grown from its 1991 North Myrtle Beach debut to include eight locations across Myrtle Beach, Conway, and Georgetown.

Baker told What Now Charleston that he and Ibarra plan to spend the coming months revamping the property and preparing for the launch. While an opening date hasn’t been finalized, the team hopes to welcome guests to Sloppy Jose’s by summer 2025.

“There are so many exciting details that we will share with you in the coming months so stay tuned,” Neal and Pam’s teased. “We will provide updates as we get closer to a definitive opening date. This is gonna be fun.”
