A brand new Japanese Italian restaurant called Magari is making its way to Hollywood, located at 6115 Sunset Blvd Ste. 100.

The brand new restaurant will move into the former home of Paley Restaurant in early 2022, with rumors of a Jan. 29th opening. Magari is owned by Ozumo Concepts, but three well-known chefs, Tony Messina, Yoshiyuki Okuno, and Enrico Merendino, will be in charge. The trio will collaborate together to pair Italian and Japanese flavors together under one roof. The new 183-seat restaurant will sit in Hollywood’s iconic Columbia Square with a 49 seat outdoor patio with a cozy fireplace lounge.

The three owners all come from different backgrounds but have an evident passion for cooking. Tony Messina, the 2019 James Beard Award-winning chef of UNI in Boston, teams up with Tokyo-based Yoshiyuki Okuno, chef-owner of Michelin-acclaimed La-Brianza, to launch their innovative blend of Italian cuisine with Japanese influences and craft. Sicilian-born Enrico Merendino, formerly executive sous at CARA, joins as Executive Chef.

Magari’s menu will offer fresh-made pasta dishes with Japanese toppings, fresh seafood and crudo bar, and charcoal and wood-fired mains from the grill, including hand-selected A4 Wagyu beef, according to their website. The restaurant will feature a large and beautifully lit lounge with an extensive wine and cocktail list.
