Maison Kitsune is working on opening a new Café Kitsuné in Silver Lake, located at 3814 W. Sunset Blvd.
The new cafe will sit adjacent to the company’s first West Coast retailer, which opened earlier this year. CEO Vinod Kasturi recently applied with the City of Los Angeles for a new cafe at that location, so few details are available. This will become the company’s 18th Café Kitsuné location, with 16 others worldwide, including its only North American site in New York City. The company also plans on opening the 17th location in Vancouver, the first in Canada. The cafe will open in the first quarter of 2022, according to a representative.
Maison Kitsune was founded by Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki in 2002. The duo used the company to create a fashion brand (Maison Kitsuné), music label (Kitsuné Musique), and coffee shops (Café Kitsuné). The latter of the three started in Tokyo in 2013, and now the cafe can be found in Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand, and Indonesia. All locations feature clean and sleek designs similar to their retailers.
The coffee chain partnered with Aroma Coffee Roastery’s owner Kazuya Watanabe to open a roastery in Okayama, Japan, and create a unique blend using beans from South America. The company recently opened a second roastery in Vertbois, Paris. Five years after its creation, Café Kitsuné successfully launched a collection of tableware, ready-to-wear, and accessories.
“Café Kitsuné pays tribute to the pleasure of enjoying a quality coffee in iconic locations, currently Tokyo’s Aoyama district and Paris’ gardens of the Palais Royal,” according to their website. “Loyal to its origins, Café Kitsuné’s menu also offers in addition to coffee, French-Japanese specialties.”
