A brand new restaurant called Aegea is opening in Melrose, located at 8151 Melrose Ave.

The new 5,458 square-foot restaurant will include 1,218 square-feet of covered outdoor patio space with a retractable roof or metal trellis, according to a case filing for the restaurant submitted to the City of Los Angeles. Owner Costas Charalambous, who is a managing partner at Sunset Collective, hopes to take over the former home of the Red O sometime in 2022. Aegea has proposed hours of 11 am to 2 am daily.

Once approved, the 232 seat restaurant will be split between an indoor and outdoor space. The indoor, with a cafe, wine room, private dining room, lounge, bar, and main dining room, will have 150 seats. Outside, the 764 square-foot retractable roof patio will have 56 seats, while the 454 square-foot metal trellis patio will have 26 seats.

It’s unknown exactly when Aegea will open, but when it does, the restaurant will be perfectly situated on the east side of Melrose, across from Hollywood Improv. The area already has quite a fair amount of dining options, especially on N. Fairfax Ave. The new restaurant will sit near V Cafe, Mauro’s Restaurant, and Crossroads Kitchen.
