Taiwanese-based boba chain One Zo Boba is adding a new Los Angeles location at The Groves at Whittier.

The new boba cafe will join several other upcoming tenants coming to the area in Spring and Summer 2022, including Chipotle, California Fish Grill, and Nguyen’s Kitchen. Since being established in 2015, the company has opened six locations across the country, including Garden Grove, Quincy, and Oakland. This will be the third location in Los Angeles County, following Monterey Park and Pasadena. When the new One Zo opens, customers can expect teas and milk teas made with house-made boba.

One Zo takes pride in selling the freshest boba drinks in the world by handpicking their tea leaves. When the company first started, the goal was to find something better to serve than the one type of tapioca pearl, the honey black boba, found in almost every bubble tea shop. This prepackaged tapioca can store for eight months or longer. Some of their drink flavors include Japanese matcha latte with cactus boba, cinnamon boba, and fresh strawberry boba.

“We came up with the idea of making boba in our own store so everyone could experience how fresh boba tastes,” according to their website. “Although it took countless trials and failures to create different boba flavors, we became the world’s first bubble tea brand to make fresh boba in-store. While our boba does not have the typical long shelf life, we hope you will feel our passion and enjoy our boba.”
