Atlanta coffee shop Muchacho isn’t done growing quite yet. Next month, it will be taking over the neighboring space previously occupied by Golden Eagle restaurant.

Atlanta Magazine reports that the full-service dining restaurant will be closing on May 2 to make room for the expansion. Owner Michael Lennox, who runs Muchacho and nearby Ladybird Grove and Mess Hall, told the magazine that the indoor dining challenges brought on by the pandemic combined with Muchacho’s counter-service model led to the move.

“Now, dear friends, we are reaching the end of one journey and the beginning of another, and so it is time we ask that you raise your glass with us in celebration,” he posted to Instagram last week. “May 2 will officially be our final service before Golden Eagle flies off into the sunset. Then we will be going through the process of transforming the space to allow for Muchacho.”

Located in Reynoldstown just 1.5 east of downtown Atlanta along the Beltline Eastside Trail, Golden Eagle served a variety of plates, platters, and food a la carte.

Muchacho offers breakfast tacos, grain bowls & cocktails in a casual all-day cafe with retro West Coast vibes. It serves tacos, toast, salsa and queso, coffee, tea, and other drinks.

Lennox could not be reached for comment in time of publication.
