Monica and Jayson Smith opened Mr. Everything Cafe on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive back in 1993, with the goal of bringing more healthy food options to their community. Now, Mr. Everything has four locations throughout the state (and one in New Orleans), and Smith is planning to expand the franchise further.

The restaurant’s flagship location, at 889 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, will be moving across the street in two months — to 882 Martin Luther King Drive, and there are plans to open a sixth location in Bearville later this month. Smith told What Now Atlanta that locations in Lithonia, Marietta, Gwinett, and Detroit are also in the works.

The food at Mr. Everything is straightforward and health-conscious — its salads, sandwiches, rice plates, quesadillas, and burgers are inspired by the spirit of New York, where Smith and his wife lived before moving to Atlanta.

Both cities, it seems, hold a special place in the couple’s heart. While the food at Mr. Everything Cafe reflects some aspects of New York City culture, Smith and his wife have made it clear that, no matter how much they expand, they’ll always have a spot on MLK drive in the community they credit for fostering their success.

Plus, it’s worth mentioning, the new spot on MLK will have a bar (a feature only the Decatur location can currently claim). We’re all about balanced meals, so we’ll take our low-carb salad with a Hennessy Blackberry.
