Family-owned ice cream shop Morelli’s Ice Cream opens its third location today, June 18th, in Virginia-Highland.

The space, a free-standing building at 1002 N Highland Ave NE, is the former home of frozen yogurt shop Yogli Mogli, and neighbors sports bar and restaurant Taco Mac.

Morelli’s opened its first location 13 years ago in East Atlanta’s Ormewood Plaza, and shortly after was named the 4th best ice cream in the US by Bon Appétit magazine. Since then, the ice cream shop has racked up numerous mentions (including a shout out from comedian Conan O’brien) and has made a point of giving back to the Atlanta communities it serves.

Now, you can find Morelli’s ice cream at Farm Burger Dunwoody and at the We Juice It in the airport. The ice cream shop also recently opened a second location at Chattahoochee Food Works.

The Virginia-Highland spot will be open Sunday through Thursday from noon until 10:00pm, and Friday and Saturday from noon until 11:00pm. Check out the Morelli’s website for the list of daily ice cream flavors, or go there today and get a scoop (let’s be real, two scoops) for yourself.
