Redevelopment project South Dwntn has a new tenant. Bowling alley and bar Pins Mechanical Company is setting up shop at 222 Mitchell Street. The space, at 25,000 square feet, will feature 16 duckpin bowling lanes, three bars, and a beer garden.
Pins Mechanical Company is owned and operated by Columbus, Ohio-based Rise Brands, and has seven locations across Ohio, Tennessee, Indiana, and North Carolina. The new spot in South Downtown will be the brand’s first Georgia location.
“We typically like to be part of a revitalization for an up=and-coming area,” says Troy Allen, CEO of Rise Brands. “And we are really aligned with what’s happening at South Downtown. I was blown away by the amount of buildings with such great architecture on that block, and we’re excited to be a part of something that’s breathing new air and new life back into those buildings.”
The family-friendly games bar will also offer ping-pong, bocce ball, and patio pong (a life-size version of beer pong), as well as arcade games and video game consoles, some of which will date back 40 years. Allen says the space will boast a large outdoor courtyard, with balconies on the second floor that overlook the scene down there.
As for the interior, it will have an industrial feel, with lots of brick, steel, and concrete accents, and leather sofas for lounging. Not to mention, it will boast some great views of Mercedes Benz Stadium.
For any parents out there looking to teach their kids how to bowl (with a beer in hand), it looks like Pins Mechanical Company will soon be the answer you’re looking for. But you’ll have to be patient — the bar and games center isn’t expected to open until 2023. For now, just keep practicing your ping pong swing in your basement, and when Pins finally makes its Peach State debut, you and the kids can hit the tables and alleys with confidence.
