A new casual restaurant is coming for the heart of Atlanta University Center. The Menu ATL is slated to take over the old Sleepy Potato space at 880 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW.

Owner DeShala Jones has partnered with The Dogwood Restaurant Group to open the new space, which will specialize in breakfast and lunch, according to Dogwood Restaurant Group consultant Walter Jordan. Along with takeout and dine-in options, The Menu will also feature study areas and complimentary wi-fi so students can use the space as a place to both work and eat.

“DesShala Jones wanted something in the heart of the city that was different for the AU center students,” says Jordan. What Now Atlanta also reached out to Jones, but the restaurant owner was not immediately available for comment.

From the looks of it, The Menu ATL originally intended to open last January, but we’re assuming the COVID-19 pandemic put a hold on that. For now, we aren’t sure when The Menu ATL will open, but permits have officially been filed for a $40,000 face lift on the space, so it looks like the ball is rolling.
