A new location of the popular coffee chain Starbucks is coming soon to 171 Auburn Ave., according to a building permit application filed with the City of Atlanta.

Set to be located inside the City Walk development, this will be the seventh retail business to be housed in the complex. According to the permit filed, this location will occupy just over 1400 square feet and will cost $400,000 to develop.

City Walk sits adjacent to Georgia State University, and has “two separate parking decks and 11 city-managed parallel spaces along Auburn Ave,” according to Ackerman & Co’s website, the firm leasing the retail space for City Walk.

This new Starbucks location is just one part of the company’s 2021 fiscal plan for the United States, as announced by Starbucks CEO, Kevin Johnson, during the 2020 earnings conference. “For the Americas, we expect new store openings to be approximately 850 located mostly in the US with roughly 800 store closures across the segment in fiscal 2021, yielding approximately 50 net new stores.”

Along with those new locations, the Starbucks official website announced that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, their stores would be revamped to better suit convenience-led formats. “Starbucks announced plans to accelerate the transformation of its store portfolio in the U.S. through the integration of the physical and digital customer experience,” said a spokesperson.

A launch date for the new Starbucks has not yet been announced. What Now Atlanta has reached out to Ackerman & Co for more details.
