Docent Brewing are heading down the coast to set up a new taproom in Carlsbad Village. SanDiegoVille first reported that the San Juan Capistrano based craft brewery will move into a 950-square-foot space on State Street.
Known as San Juan Capistrano’s First Brewery, Docent Brewing opened in 2017 by Orange County residents Brian Hendon, Scott Cortellessa, and Bryan Giesen.
Acting as your guide to all things fermented, Docent Brewing serves up a variety of beer styles from IPAs, to The Rube Red Rye Ale, and Grandpappy Imperial Stout. To eat, their menu is inspired by fermentation, think fermented veggies made in-house, and Mountaineer Rolls stuffed with pizza toppings.
Reports say Docent Brewing is looking to transform the State Street site which formerly housed the Lion & the Lamb gift shop into an industrial-style restaurant and bar. What Now San Diego could not reach a representative from Docent Brewing to confirm details on what San Diegans can expect from the new taproom.
Docent Brewing in Carlsbad is expected to open in 2023. For now, you can head up I-5 to their SJC Public House and follow on Instagram for the latest updates.
