El Cid Brewing announced via social media this week that they’ve officially taken over the former Home Brewing Co. location on El Cajon Blvd in North Park. Owner and Head Brewer Eric Bridges tells What Now San Diego he was a former customer of Home Brewing Co. which made for a friendly transfer of the business over to El Cid.

With deep respect to the US Navy, North Park’s newest brewery takes its name from the lucky pet goat turned mascot called El Cid who served aboard the USS New York in 1893. El Cid’s story can be read in full on the brewery Website

Bridges says El Cid Brewing took over a 1 BBL brewing system from the previous tenant with plans to begin brewing in house starting next week. They plan to install a larger system within six months.

We can expect 8 craft beers to start, later bumping up to 12 beers on tap. El Cid has shared their proposed tap list on their Website, which includes the General Order 409 American Lager, Morning Quarters Coffee Stout, High Dust Hazy IPA, and the Deckplate Mexican Style Lager.

Bridges says we can expect a soft opening August 5th, followed by a grand opening celebration April 2023. Stay updated for more information coming through their Instagram page and learn more about El Cid Brewing on their Website
