A new beer garden to be nestled under trees near the historic silo at The Dryer will open in 2023. The Katy Beer Garden Instagram page boasts 100 taps with cocktails and wine also on the menu.
The Katy Beer Garden is part of the planned development at the historic J.V. Cardiff & Sons Rice Dryer. Local developer Hadi Nurcahya purchased the property and began working with Katy Heritage Society to restore The Dryer at 5321 1st St. at I-10 and Hwy. 90 in Katy.
J.V. Cardiff & Sons built the first concrete dryer on the property in 1943, according to The Dryer website. Before Nurcahya purchased the property, it sat vacant for more than 20 years after its last rice production was dried.
Renovations to the property are expected to begin in October, according to a project filing. The Dryer will house Katy Beer Garden, which will offer guests 25,000 square feet of outdoor seating and 8,000 square feet indoors to enjoy a couple of brews.
The Dryer will also include the Cardiff Rice Dryer Museum with displays of historical pieces and photographs from the city’s agricultural and pioneering days. Five restaurant concepts are planned for The Dryer—El Canton Pizzeria, Noodle & Satay, Jos’Brisket, Taqueria Tex-Taco, and Fusion Grill.
