Church’s Chicken is working on another Katy opening. According to a recently filed permit with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the beloved fried-chicken fast-casual brand is expected to open at 2305 Fry Road.

“We’re returning to a familiar location in Katy, and our market analytics confirmed it’s an ideal fit for Church’s Texas Chicken,” Church’s Chicken Senior Vice President of Company Restaurant Operations, Bill Mitchell, said in an interview with What Now Houston.

“We see a great opportunity to reconnect with the community and bring our signature chicken, hospitality and value back to the area.”

The address sits within the Mayde Creek and Park Row sub-neighborhoods of the Katy/West Houston area. The property sits directly on the pad or outskirts of the Fry Road Crossing Shopping Center. This retail corridor sits just north of the Katy Freeway (I-10) intersection.

“Our Katy location will feature our new KIOSKS as well as our Real Rewards Loyalty program where guests earn points on every purchase that they can redeem for great free menu items,” Mitchell said.

“The restaurant will also feature our new 1400 Blaze Image Building.  Stay tuned as we will start posting for hiring events in early May of 2027!”

The plan is to open the new Church’s Chicken by Summer 2027.

“There will be a Grand Opening Block Party after the restaurant opens that will feature family activities, entertainment for all, and even the chance to win Free Church’s Chicken for a year,” Mitchell said.

George W. Church Sr. founded Church’s Texas Chicken (known as Church’s Chicken in the U.S.) on April 10, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas. Church Sr. opened a small walk-up stand called “Church’s Fried Chicken-To-Go” at 111 S. Alamo Street, located directly across from the historic Alamo.

“Church’s was founded in San Antonio nearly 75 years ago, making Texas an important part of our DNA,” Mitchell said.

“As we continue to strengthen our Texas roots, Houston remains a key growth market, with 10 new restaurant openings taking place, including the Katy location.”

The original menu offered a simple, low-cost carryout option: two pieces of fried chicken and a biscuit for 49 cents. French fries and beloved jalapeños were introduced to the menu in 1955.

“While our Original Recipe Fried Chicken bone-in chicken is our signature menu item, we’re bringing back fan favorites and introducing new items through ongoing recipe innovation,” Mitchell shared.

“Over the past couple of years, we brought back fan favorites like our Smokehouse chicken and introduced new menu offerings like boneless wings and flavor rubs that can be added to any chicken order. We also have delicious sides and were recently honored to receive the USA Today 10BEST Reader’s Choice Award for best side for our Honey-Butter Biscuits™.”

Today, Church’s Chicken operates more than 1,500 locations worldwide, including 780 to 1,300 Church’s Chicken restaurants in the United States and locations in more than 20 countries. Texas has nearly 350 of those locations, with 30 to 65 in the broader Greater Houston metropolitan area.

“We have opened 7 restaurants in the Houston area over the past 2 years, including the Katy location. We also have five more set to open in Houston in 2027,” Mitchell said.

“Church’s has always been about bringing people together over delicious food, and we look forward to becoming part of the community, creating local jobs, and giving families and friends a welcoming place to gather and enjoy a great meal at a great value.”
