The Greek-inspired cafe is finally opening back up after a temporary renovation period.

Aimé Leon Dore is a popular Menswear fashion and lifestyle brand based out of New York. The brand was originally established in Queens in 2014 by owner Teddy Santis, who endeavored to create timeless fashion that focused on simple, yet powerful design. Growing up in New York, Santis modeled his brand’s aesthetic after the city’s 1990’s streetwear style and has since exploded into becoming one of New York’s most iconic new streetwear brands.

After a few years of steady growth, Santis made headlines in 2019 when he opened up Aimé Leon Dore’s flagship retail and cafe concept at 214 Mulberry Street. Fusing together a charming in-store shopping experience with a Greek-inspired cafe concept, Santis’s new flagship store put Aimé Leon Dore front and center of New York’s fashion scene. Opening up what Vogue once described as “The Coolest Store in Nolita,” Aimé Leon Dore deftly navigated the challenges of in-person retail by establishing a unique shopping experience that drew in customers from all walks of life.

Sadly, earlier this year the doors at 214 Mulberry Street shut down for renovations. While many fans were left wondering when they’d be able to return to the space, recent signs are indicating that the store is expected to reopen this Spring, bigger and better than ever. According to a recent liquor license application submitted to Community Board 2, Teddy Santis is currently getting ready to reopen the space as a “cafe with light food and wine/beer/cider.”

Occupying the ground floor of the building at 214 Mulberry Street, the renovated store is estimated to feature about 2,598 square feet of space. According to the application, the interior will feature 17 tables and one bar, which are expected to seat about 42 guests inside at one time. The basement level meanwhile will be reserved for the kitchen and storage.

Speaking of the kitchen, according to a sample menu attached with their liquor license application, the renovated Aimé Leon Dore will also offer an array of light snacks, salads, and large plates to accommodate their coffee, beer, and wine selections. Sample items include a quinoa salad, beef sliders, smoked salmon flat breads, feta and tomato sandwiches, and a baked potato with caviar. For beverage options, Aimé Leon Dore will offer Greek lager and pilsner beers as well as imported Greek white and red wines.

In the meantime, Aimé Leon Dore currently operates a temporary concept shop at 61 Crosby Street while they continue to renovate their flagship space, and the concept shop is expected to operate throughout the “Fall/Winter 2022 season”.
