Copa Vida is adding to their lineup of San Diego cafes, with another spot headed Downtown. A recent permit filing places the cafe at the downtown office tower, 101 West Broadway. The coffee shop will replace a former Specialty’s Cafe location, neighboring a Chipotle Mexican Grill.

Owner Steve Chang opened the first Copa Vida cafe in Pasadena in 2013. Since then the business has grown to operate nine cafe locations across Los Angeles and San Diego, with a Pasadena-based roastery to serve the Southern California region with wholesale distribution.

Downtown makes for their seventh local spot, with other cafes located San Marcos, Del Mar, Torrey Ridge, UCSD, Carmel Valley, and East Village. Their Carlsbad location is temporarily closed.

Copa Vida specializes in carefully crafted coffee drinks and serves an array of teas, tea lattes, cold brew on tap, plus breakfast burritos, sandwiches, and salads.

According to site plans at 101 West Broadway, Copa Vida is due to open by Spring 2023. Find more information about Copa Vida locations by visiting their website
