The Modern Churro is setting up its debut location in Downtown Vista. The new cafe and dessert shop will occupy a small storefront on Vista Village Drive.
Owner Omar Gonzalez tells What Now San Diego The Modern Churro will be a specialty Cuban cafe offering many more options than just churros. Gonzalez is a realtor and entrepreneur who also operates Omar’s Exotic Birds in a neighboring unit along with locations in Orange County.
Gonzalez shares that the cafe will serve traditional Cuban-style coffee and espresso drinks, along with some American-style coffee, Cuban sandwiches, and garlic fries. The cafe will offer takeout-orders only.
For dessert, The Modern Churro will feature authentic Mexican and Spanish-style churros along with modern varieties and flavors. They’ll also offer a variety of shakes, shaved ice, and more.
