Blue Ocean Sushi is planning its third location at Westfield UTC. Eater reports the Japanese restaurant will replace Smokeyard BBQ & Chop Shop in a 4,434-square-foot unit at the La Jolla shopping mall.
A rep for the company tells What Now San Diego their team recently signed a lease and is preparing to begin construction at their largest-to-date site.
Owners Jenny and James Pyo are the minds behind concepts like Love Boat Sushi, Blue Ocean Robata Sushi, and Harumama restaurants across the San Diego region. Blue Ocean Sushi currently operates two coastal locations in Carlsbad and La Jolla.
Blue Ocean restaurants serve handcrafted sushi rolls, Japanese robata-style bbq skewers, Chef’s choice tasting options, and globally-inspired contemporary dishes. At the bar, Blue Ocean locations pour craft cocktails, Japanese whiskey, and plentiful wine and sake varieties.
