The chicken sandwich chain Chick-Fil-A has secured its newest location site at La Jolla Village Square, with neighboring eateries like BJ’s Brewhouse, Mendocino Farms, and Chipotle.

According to local real estate intel acquired by What Now San Diego, the fast food chain will install in a 5,969-square-foot space that formerly operated as an Islands Restaurant on Nobel Drive in La Jolla

No word yet on the construction and renovation needs the location will require to transform into a Chick-Fil-A. The quick-service restaurant offers dine-in, carry-out, curbside pickup, and drive-thru at most of its locations.

Currently, the Georgia-based company operates locally in Midway District, Mission Valley and Clairemont, plus another 16 restaurants and growing across San Diego and North County. Chick-Fil-A now has more than 2,600 locations in 47 states.

The brand also has a location planned in Carlsbad, sans drive-thru as the City of Carlsbad no longer allows them. Initial plans outlined a Winter 2023 opening in North County but no updates have been provided. Plans are currently unclear if the La Jolla location will also operate as a stand-alone restaurant, as the now-closed Islands was not equipped with a drive-thru. What Now will continue to update as details emerge.
