Tiny Dog Cafe, a new locally-owned, dog-friendly cafe, will soon be opening in New Smyrna Beach, according to recent public records. The restaurant will be located at 626 N Dixie Fwy, near The Taco Shack.

What Now Orlando recently spoke to co-owners Wendy McGuire and Adam Cain who gave deep insight into the cafe’s offerings, space, and vision.

“We’re gonna do breakfast and lunch, with a focus on fresh, local ingredients,” Cain explains. “Breakfast sandwiches, bowls, burritos, a la carte items such as eggs, grits, and biscuits. For lunch, we will roast our meats, so if you order a sandwich with roast beef, for example, that will have been roasted in-house. We will also do a pulled-pork banh mi sandwich, a turkey verde sandwich, there will be some vegetarian and vegan options, and very good coffees.”

When asked about the space, Cain illustrates a cozy, sunny, and pet-friendly environment.

“We have a really nice outside patio area and will be extremely dog friendly — we own four small dogs, so that’s where the name came from. We’re going to have 44 seats, indoors and outdoors, and we’re a counter service, roughly half the seats inside and the other outside.”

When asked about their rationale for the location, Cain offers a simple answer.

“I live in the neighborhood where the restaurant is. It’s a family affair, it’s my fiancee and I who are opening the restaurant. We’re excited to bring different types of food to the neighborhood.”

Concluding the call, Cain notes that there is no opening date yet set, but that this information will be announced on social media outlets in the coming months. Asked if there was a closing statement, McGuire and Cain highlight the restaurant’s core ethos and motto.

“Fresh local fun is our motto, and we want to be a good space for every type of person — we don’t discriminate against anyone, we welcome everyone.”
