The burgeoning BBQ chain Smokey Mo’s is heading to Hutto, according to recent public records. The restaurant will be located at 120 Chris Kelly Boulevard, within suite 300, just across the street from Hutto High School.

Smokey Mo’s serves a classic Texas BBQ menu of meats such as pork loin, brisket, turkey, ribs, chicken, and sausage, along with sides such as potato salad, cole slaw, sweet cream corn, and green beans. The chain also offers a small breakfast menu of tacos, biscuits and gravy, and biscuit sandwiches.

What Now Austin briefly reached Craig Haley, President and COO of Smokey Mo’s, but he did not return requests for comment.

In any case, the public records illuminate that construction will consist of “upfit of a new, unoccupied tenant space. The space will be a new BBQ restaurant and have seating for 66 guests.” The space is around 2,800 square feet and will cost $650,000 to complete. The project is anticipated to be completed in late November of 2023, signaling for a late 2023 or early 2024 opening.

Readers curious how Smokey Mo’s stands out in a central Texas market full of BBQ options can refer to the company’s autobiography, featured on the official website.

“At Smokey Mo’s, not much has changed since the beginning. Although we’ve grown to 18 BBQ stores throughout Central Texas, we’re still known for our great BBQ staples and friendly service. Our signature smoked brisket still stays on the pit for 12 to 14 hours.”

“Sure, we’ve had to bend with the times and offer things like fast family meals, BBQ take out and BBQ drive thrus, but we’ve always kept to our roots.”
