As the company continues to update its existing sites, Chick-fil-A in Lake City, located at 3200 US 90 W, is getting ready for a remodel.

Franchise owner Michael Sexton was recently approved for a remodel this week to renovate his Chick-fil-A, according to a plan review from the Florida Department of Professional & Business Regulation. The exact extent of these renovations is unknown, and Sexton has yet to respond to comments from What Now Jacksonville. While it’s unknown if this location will close for the remodel, most Chick-fil-A remodels require a temporary close.

Three years ago, Chick-fil-A introduced a modular building program that improves how existing restaurants are remodeled. By building portions of restaurants offsite and then shipping them to the construction site, franchise owners will be able to reduce the construction schedule for their remodeling projects. One reason why operators decide to remodel is due to capacity issues. As a result, a restaurant may undergo remodeling to transform its kitchen with an enhanced design, allowing half the kitchen staff to respond to drive-thru orders and the other half to serve in-restaurant customers.

“By incorporating modularized construction into our restaurant development programs, we anticipate that we will be able to reduce the construction time needed to rebuild existing restaurants by 6-10 weeks,” Gregg Lollis, Senior Director of Restaurant Design at Chick-fil-A, said at the time of the announcement. “Our team at Chick-fil-A has been researching this type of construction for several years, and we expect to introduce additional modular building projects in the coming months as we look to better support our restaurants.”
