Latina-owned chocolate business The Xocolate Bar is bringing a new outpost to Rockridge in Oakland. Owners Malena Lopez-Maggi and Clive Brown haven’t announced the address yet, but locals can look forward to the arrival of The Xocolate Bar’s chocolate “brie” and “chocuterie” boards sometime this October.

According to a recent report by SF Eater, The Xocolate Bar will begin transitioning into the new locale in May, when it begins buildout. In total, the expansion will cost around $65,000, which the business is hoping to fund with the help of donations via GoFundMe.

For readers who are unfamiliar, the shop is known in the Bay Area for its award-winning “brie” chocolate — a white chocolate wheel thats consistency allows it to be spread like brie cheese. The eatery tells a bit about itself on its website, sharing, “Our house blend of chocolate is organic and fair trade. We use all-natural ingredients, including natural-color cocoa butter and edible mineral dust for decoration. Plenty of vegan and gluten-free options are always available.”

Lopez-Maggi shares that the Rockridge outpost will offer retail space, with a stockroom and shipping capabilities, allowing the team to dedicate the Solano Avenue space to production.

The Xocolate Bar’s new Rockridge spot is slated to open in October.
