A brand new Vietnamese restaurant called Saigon Coffee and Sandwiches is getting ready to make its debut in the Jacksonville neighborhood of Windy Hill, located at 10150 Beach Boulevard, Site 9.
The new eatery will move into the former home of T-Rex Food Mart and a clock/watch repair shop, according to a recent plan review application submitted to the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation. There is no exact opening date, as the application is still being processed. Saigon Coffee and Sandwiches will sit in the middle of a former Boost Mobile site and a Geico, all of which is behind Rex, the Beach Blvd Dinosaur.
When the new eatery opens later this year, customers can expect a variety of Vietnamese coffee, which is sweet and rich, made with sweetened condensed milk and strong drip coffee. The cafe will also likely have some tea options as well. As for food, customers can expect a variety of different Vietnamese sandwiches, otherwise known as banh mi, which are often made with a baguette and made with marinated tofu, baguette, pickled veggies, and cilantro.
The new concept should have no problems getting people in its doors when it opens, sitting near both a national landmark and a dispensary. On top of having plenty of foot traffic coming from surrounding businesses, Saigon Coffee and Sandwiches will only have to compete with Bánh Mì n’ Phở Express near Interstate 295 and a handful of pho-focused restaurants in Windy Hill.
