Union Kitchen & Tap, a local American restaurant with sites in Downtown and Encinitas, is preparing to open a new location in Pacific Beach at 832 Garnet Avenue.

OMG Hospitality Group is getting ready to open the company’s third location in the former home of Backyard Kitchen & Tap, first reported by SanDiegoVille. Signs on the building note the hospitality group will open the restaurant in Spring 2024, offering a variety of modern American tavern fare, plus a full bar with plenty of craft cocktails, local beer, and wine. Longtime residents of the area will remember this location as the site of Moondoggies before it was sold in 2014.

When the new location opens later this year, customers can expect a product-driven menu full of delicious American classics, such as shareable plates, salads, flatbreads, options from the grill, and other entrees. The restaurant also has a seasonal menu that reflects a repertoire of new and traditional cooking methods enhanced with the best and freshest ingredients. As for drinks, Union Kitchen & Tap offers a variety of classic and progressive cocktails made by creative mixologists.

“Union’s classic American menu made from fresh, local ingredients is perfectly paired with delicious craft cocktails, local brews, a popular beer list, and vintage wines for an all-around experience aimed to satisfy every customer,” according to the company’s website. “We pride ourselves on a culture complete with endless innovation, spirited personalities, local love, and a customer-centric attitude.”
