After serving the San Diego area from Mission Brewery Plaza, Latchkey Brewing is getting ready to relocate to Bay Ho at 4170 Morena Boulevard, Suite F.

In 2021, Head of Brewing Operations Gerald Dollente and Head Brewer Anthony Beach, both of whom worked at Ballast Point Brewing, and co-founder Matthew West launched Latchkey Brewing at Five Points’ Mission Brewery Plaza. The trio has since left that space and maintained relevance by staying in the market through the help of Viewpoint Brewing and The Landing in Carlsbad. Now, the owners are getting ready to relate to Bay Ho, replacing Bitter Brothers Brewing, according to SD Beer News.

“Latchkey never actually went away,” West tells SD Beer News. “While our volume hasn’t been very big, we have continued to distribute some of our core beers and continued to innovate with new releases like Fly Away Pale Ale, It’s All in the Hops IPA, and Now Yer Skrewed Imperial Stout, which is finished on Skrewball Whiskey barrel staves.”

This Spring, Latchkey Brewing will relocate and open a 3,200-square-foot combo brewery and tasting room. The new location will have its own parking lot and an abundance of on-street parking along Morena Boulevard. The trio will produce their beers on a 15-barrel brewhouse that is the same size system they had at Mission Brewery Plaza. Unlike Bitter Brothers, the owners of Latchkey Brewing will install an on-site kitchen, giving the brewery a chance to serve food along with its delicious beer.

“We have partnered with an amazing food concept which has taken San Diego by storm over the past year, and look forward to sharing more about that as we get closer to opening,” West tells SD Beer News.
