Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza’s Toasted Gastrobrunch and Roppongi Restaurant & Sushi Bar are getting ready to open new locations in San Diego’s Imperial Beach at 800 Seacoast Drive.

The two restaurants will move into the former home of SEA180° Coastal Tavern, which will have its last day of operation on March 31 after ten years of service, according to SanDiegoVille. Once the restaurant closes, Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza’s Toasted Gastrobrunch will open on April 1, with Roppongi Restaurant & Sushi Bar scheduled to open in the Summer of 2024. This is the first time Roppongi has reopened since it closed for good in La Jolla in 2015 after serving the area for 17 years.

Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza founder Sami Ladeki will use the 10,000 square-foot Imperial Beach site for a third branch of Toasted Gastrobrunch in San Diego, with locations already in Oceanside, La Mesa, and a Las Vegas site. Customers can expect a menu centered around brunch fare, including pancakes, Benedicts, sandwiches, breakfast burritos, and more. The restaurant also features a full bar with craft cocktails, beer, and more.

Roppongi Restaurant & Sushi Bar’s revival at Pier South will bring the once-popular Japanese fusion eatery back to San Diego after nearly ten years. When it opens later this year, customers can expect Asian fare with French-style execution, with a menu that features a fusion of a tapas bar and sushi lounge. David and Lesley Cohn of San Diego’s Cohn Restaurant Group decided to move on to other opportunities following the upcoming closure of SEA180° Coastal Tavern, which comes after the restaurant’s lease is set to end.
