Per the agenda of an upcoming SLA review meeting, the former music venue at 192 Allen Street is being transformed into a new performance venue and cafe. It seems that this is proposed to take over the former Rockwood Music Hall 2.

EV Grieve reports that the space is a 1,500 square-foot area with sound equipment, a stage and professional lighting already in place. A real estate listing for the site mentions that this property is located on the ground floor of the Sixty LES Boutique Hotel.

What Now NY reached out to the principal behind this new business Nick Bodor but did not immediately hear back with a response.

The space has a maximum occupancy of 150 and there will be seating for approximately 75 guests indoors. The liquor license application indicates plans for a 15 foot bar in the restaurant. While there will not be a full kitchen, there will be a food preparation area.

In this early stage, it seems that Bodor and his team hope to create a performance-friendly space and also have plans to host a “makers’ fair” where local artisans can sell their products. There will also be a coffee retail component of the concept as well.

Bodor is the creator and co-owner behind The Library, a dive bar at 7 Ave A. He is also the creator and owner of  Baker Falls & Feverdream Lounge at 101 Ave A, a coffeehouse and evening bar with a performance space called the Knitting Factory Live Room. Bodor did not confirm whether or not this new venture at 192 Allen Street will be a second location of either of these concepts.

A sample menu attached to the liquor license application had a headline reading “Soundcheck Cafe.” Sample items include meatloaf and tomato sandwiches. Dave the Butcher will be sourcing the sauces and meats. There was a standard coffee menu here as well.

There is no word at this time as to when this business might open.
