Ono Hawaiian BBQ, a California-based chain restaurant that provides a fresh-off-the-grill Hawaiian dining experience, is opening a new location in Carmel Mountain at 11846 Carmel Mountain Rd.

Previously, What Now San Diego broke the news that Ono Hawaiian BBQ is making its San Diego debut in Escondido’s San Marcos Shopping Center. Now it appears the company has found its second San Diego County location, set to move into the former home of Boston Market, according to documents submitted to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. The new location will sit between Carmel Mountain Plaza and Carmel Mountain Ranch Town Center.

It’s unclear exactly when the new Ono Hawaiian BBQ will open. The company has yet to make its San Diego debut in Escondido. Considering the application was submitted today and is being reviewed, it’s likely this location won’t open until next year. When it opens, customers can expect a delicious selection of plate lunches and Island cuisine. It’s unclear if this location will have a drive-through, like a handful of sites in Los Angeles.

“Founded in 2002, Ono Hawaiian BBQ is a family-owned fast casual restaurant known for our authentic Hawaiian Plate Lunches and other island specialties,” according to the company’s website. “Ono Hawaiian uses the freshest ingredients, prepared from scratch daily in each restaurant and grilled fresh to order. With locations in California and Arizona, we aim to combine the culture and “Aloha” spirit of Hawaii into our restaurants to bring a taste of the islands with exceptional service in an inviting atmosphere.”
