After debuting earlier this year, Cielo Rojo was forced to close temporarily in Phoenix following a fire at 1919 N 16th St.

Previously, What Now Phoenix reported that the family that opened Mariscos Playa Hermosa was working on a new concept called Cielo Rojo, which opened earlier this year. Unfortunately, the restaurant experienced a small, unexpected fire around 2 a.m. on Monday, according to Phoenix New Times. The fire was apparently caused by a faulty water heater. As a result, the company announced on Instagram that it will temporarily close and likely reopen in about 30 to 45 days.

Thankfully, the fire didn’t hurt anyone, and the kitchen and dining areas remain intact, but it did affect a storage area. While repairs are made, the family crafts new menu items and prepares them for reopening. Owners include Emmanuel Maldonado, his sister Yesica, and his parents Jose and Maria. Once Cielo Rojo reopens later this year, customers can expect a handful of new menu items and all the classics that were initially on the menu. During Cielo Rojo’s closure, the family is encouraging diners to visit Mariscos Playa Hermosa and to follow Cielo Rojo’s social media for updates on reopening.

“We’re TEMPORARILY CLOSING our doors due to a small, unexpected fire,” according to the company’s announcement on social media. “Thankfully, no one was harmed, and damage was minimal, all things considered. We’re working diligently to restore and REOPEN SOON! Our Cielo Rojo team appreciates your understanding and support during this brief and very sad time. Don’t worry, con el favor de dios, WE WILL BE BACK to serving up your favorite dishes and welcoming you with open arms soon! Stay tuned for updates and reopening dates. Thank you for your loyalty and continued support.”
