Don’t be crabby, New York! An exciting new seafood chain is shaking up the status quo of seafood and will be opening a brand new location in Inwood.

Shaking Crab is a local seafood restaurant that specializes in Cajun seafood boils featuring lobster, snow crab, and king crab. Originally founded by two friends in New England in 2015, the humble seafood brand has since expanded into a crab empire that now boasts over 20 locations across the northeast.

As part of this aggressive expansion strategy, Shaking Crab will be opening up a brand new location in Inwood at at 4740 Broadway, at the corner of Broadway and Thayer Street. Moving into the space currently occupied by Tyron Public House, the new Shaking Crab will offer enough space to seat 73 guests and is expected to be open daily from 11 AM to 2 AM, except on Sundays when the restaurant will close at 11 PM.

While residents have expressed concern over potential noise pollution, the owners have reassured the local community board that the new operation will be properly soundproofed and that the management will be especially considerate of the neighbors. Intending to be a family-friendly neighborhood restaurant, the new Shaking Crab will also go out of its way to hire locally – a critical stipulation given the low employment rates in the neighborhood. At the moment, the new Shaking Crab is still under construction, and further details will be forthcoming as the team moves closer to opening.
