An exciting new restaurant is currently laying down plans to take over the former Max Restaurant space on Avenue B.
The new restaurant, which is still yet to be named, is operating under the name 51 Avenue B LLC and will be opening up, appropriately, at 51 Avenue B. Owned and operated by Mina Ibrahim, the new restaurant is currently in the process of acquiring a new liquor license from the state of New York.
Envisioned as an upscale cocktail bar and lounge, Mina’s new concept will feature an eclectic mix of elevated small plates including wagyu beef huarache, potato tetela with caviar, kampachi al pastor, octopus tostada, halibut meztlapique, and herb guacamole with corn tostadas. Borrowing inspiration from the flavors of Mexico and Brazil, the cocktails will be the star of the show.
Some of the more interesting options include the Ponche con Piquette, a warm punch infused with brandy that will be perfect for winter, as well as the Quentao, a hot Brazilian drink made of cachaca and spices. The bar will also serve more traditional cocktails like margaritas as well as beer cocktails like the Black Velvet and Hangman’s Blood.
Moving into the space at 51 Avenue B, Mina’s restaurant will be replacing the popular Max Restaurant that occupied the space. Known for serving gourmet Italian food in an upscale environment, Max Restaurant thankfully still operates one other location in Tribeca. The location is rather spacious for the neighborhood and should offer enough tables and chairs to comfortably seat 50 guests at one time. The restaurant is expected to operate Monday thru Wednesday from 11:00 AM – 12:00 AM and Thursday thru Sunday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 AM. While the concept is still too early into development to have an online presence, we will update this article accordingly should any of the details change.
