Sugarfish, a highly revered sushi restaurant, is currently working on its sixth NYC location.
According to Sugarfish’s website, the restaurant was started by renowned sushi chef Kazunori Nozawa and restauranteur Jerry Greenberg. They then went on to work with co-founders Tom Nozawa, Lele Massimini, Cameron Broumand, and Clement Mok to turn the idea of making high-quality sushi accessible into a reality.
What Now NY was not immediately able to reach Broumand for a comment.
ilovetheupperwestside.com reported that signage had gone up at 27 W 75th Street where the newest location is coming to life. Currently, Sugarfish has five New York City locations in Flatiron, Midtown East, Midtown West, SoHo and Williamsburg. With the opening of this latest location, one third of Sugarfish’s 18 total locations will be in New York.
The locations of Sugarfish in California and New York City have different menus, but both states’ lunch and dinner menus emphasize using fresh fish and loosely packed rice. Sugarfish requests that patrons to their restaurants do not tip and that as soon as food is served that people begin eating.
West Side Rag notes that this location will have 40 seats for guests.
Sugarfish on the Upper West Side is expected to open on August 8.
