Miami-based hospitality company Golden Era Hospitality Group is about to open Oro, a grand new restaurant with views of the Miami skyline, in Miami Beach. South Beach has been awaiting this opening for some time, but even as Oro launches, there’s more still to come: Elixir, Oro’s sister lounge concept, which we’re still waiting for.
The Miami New Times had anticipated a Fall 2024 opening for Oro, whose name means gold, back in September, with a more general opening date of “2025” for Elixir.
“The idea behind Oro and Elixir came from a collection of memories and experiences I’ve had from traveling around the world,” Philippe Kalifa, founder of Golden Era Hospitality Group, said in the Miami New Times article. “From the delicious food to the memorable cocktails and the energetic party, our guests will have a complete night out experience with us, and I can’t wait to bring these concepts to South Beach!”
A 2024 opening did not eventuate. However, yesterday, an update came by way of coverage by the Miami Herald. The Herald says an opening for Oro is expected this weekend (Oro’s Instagram page says January 25), but Elixir will not open until “later this year.”
Details about Elixir are still somewhat hard to come by. What Now reached out on Thursday to Philippe Kalifa to ask about what the Herald called Oro’s “nightlife companion…a high-energy lounge.” Kalifa declined to make any immediate comment on Elixir.
