Willow’s Smokehouse and Tavern is all set to bring its charm and original menu to 4109 McKinney St, Bldg A. Co-Owner Jasmine Barela confirmed the news and highlighted her’s and her fiance and fellow co-owner, Willow Villarreal, excitement about opening their first brick-and-mortar location in the historic L.M. Greco building.
“Willow read an article about the plans for 4109 McKinney St. in the Chronicle and decided to contact our now landlord. It’s in the 100+ year old L.M. Greco building in our neighborhood, a community that we feel can use more eateries. A building with so much history will add instant character that we love,” Barela told What Now Houston.
The duo has plans to go beyond their traditional barbecue offerings, which will be a menu filled with sandwiches, burgers, wings, bar bites, and composed dishes. Barela added, “We’ll also have a full bar with cocktails, mocktails, frozen drinks, and your favorite beers and spirits.” Guests can also expect a lively atmosphere with a CD jukebox, a pinball machine, and eclectic décor that promises a unique experience.
The project, with an estimated cost of $390,000 per a permit on file, involves significant renovation and alteration work to the historic building. The first floor will be the main part of the restaurant, while the upstairs will include additional dining space and storage.
The husband-and-wife-to-be team are aiming to open their first official home for Willow’s Smokehouse and Tavern by “mid-April.” With the charm of its historic home and the brand’s fresh approach to dining, it is poised to make a mark on the Houston food scene.
