A gourmet Korean hot dog concept will open its first Texas franchise location in Pearland. CrunCheese is expected to open at 3422 Business Center Dr., Ste. 140 in Pearland during the first quarter of 2023.
Franchise owner Tony Tran told What Now Houston that other restaurants offering a similar concept are doing well in the area. “The food itself is what everybody likes because it’s a really simple concept,” Tran said. “It’s a specialty Korean hot dog, but it’s made like a corn dog.”
The menu includes The Original, Cheddar & Hotdog, and the Potato Hotdog. “The fan favorite would be the Mozzarella Hotdog, which is half mozzarella, half beef.” Tran said the goal is to have all kosher beef hot dogs. Diners can also get an All Mozza or All Cheddar dog.
“We only have about ten items,” Tran said. Diners can mix and match sides and sauces. Sides include potato and sweet potato cubes, with a variety of sauces including ketchup, mustard, garlic parmesan, and honey butter available. “It’s a great product to try.”
Tran’s business partner for CrunCheese in Pearland is Andre Acuna. Kathy Jones with Investor Real Estate Services is the leasing agent for the shopping center and represented the landlord in the transaction for the Pearland location.
Tran also owns R&B Tea, which is next door to the planned Pearland CrunCheese. “The concept I’m trying to bring is combining them together. So basically, you come in, food court-style. You order a hot dog on one side, and the other side, you order milk teas,” Tran said.
Tran is opening another R&B Tea at 3607 Hwy. 6 in Sugar Land in a couple of weeks. Tran hopes to open additional CrunCheese spots near his R&B Tea locations.
CrunCheese first opened in 2019 and has locations in Las Vegas, as well as in California, Florida, and a couple of other states.
