Sonny Bono Concourse at Palm Springs International Airport will welcome a new concession, Half Moon Empanadas, according to the Palm Springs Post. A popular quick-serve artisanal empanada chain, it’s one of many new concessions at the 3400 E Tahquitz Canyon Way establishment.
With construction slated to begin in fall 2024 and conclude in early 2025, it will be one of the final businesses completed as part of massive upgrades the airport has been undergoing. There is currently a food truck on-site that sells the empanadas while the storefront is in progress.
Founded by Pilar Guzman Zavala and Juan Zavala in Miami, Half Moon Empanadas prides itself on crafting its empanadas from scratch with the finest ingredients. The brand serves signature flavors including guava & cheese, three cheese, beef, spicy beef, chicken, and spicy chicken empanadas.
Half Moon Empanadas is currently operating 22 stores, with 6 new locations coming soon. Many of them are in airports: Miami, Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Nashville, Chicago O’Hare, Phoenix Sky Harbor, Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Austin-Bergstrom, Raleigh-Durham, and Rhode Island.
