According to recent reporting in ABJ, an original new bar is coming to Rainey St.
Palace Laundry set for 96 Rainey St. will be co-owned by Jason Steward, Nick Adams, Sean Fric, Troy Cramer and Benjamin Cantu. Reportedly, the group has raised more than $1 million in about two weeks with a goal of $3.5 million.
“We feel really strongly about this concept,” Steward said to the publication. “And the way Rainy Street is moving … all the construction will be finished, and all the new people living on the street, we feel like Rainey 2.0 is going to be even stronger than the first round.”
Construction on the 5,500-square-foot Palace Laundry is slated to start before the end of the year, Steward said, per the ABJ, adding that the bar should be open by the end of next year.
“There’s definitely going to be … this mid-century/retro kind of feel to the place, as if you’re kind of hanging out in the Uptown London or New York living room with kind of a loungey and established feeling,” Adams said. “We really want to stay sophisticated, but also approachable.”
“I’ve been on Rainey Street since 2012 and owned Bungalow separately from this partnership, and I’ve seen it grow and evolve. Rainey 1.0 was fantastic,” Steward said. “Rainey 2.0, we feel extremely, extremely confident in. And with the amount of extra bodies on the street and extra condos and being by the hotels, we feel strongly we’re going to be back in that top 3 entertainment districts again in the United States.”
No opening date has been announced.
